Re: Shuttle to Naboo
Taum listened to him speak. It was kind and what she had wanted. This mysterious signature had led her to a kind and mysterious man. She let go of him and smiled up at him. "I don't want to be a warrior. I don't want to fight, I want to help." She paused and looked at him curiously. "Can you show me more colors?"
She loved the way each color popped and went so well. No one had ever told her what color things were. So she just assumed. Never would she have guessed water was blue or grass was green. She had seen colors now and it was beautiful. She'd join him as long as she didn't have to kill people. She had witnessed death before and she couldn't imagine someone killed by her hands.

Re: Shuttle to Naboo
((OOC: I want to point out that they are currently on Naboo, the Lothal thread (Wayward Beginnings) is moving planets soon, so would most likely have happened before Taum and Colt met, there's a lot going on there, and the outcome has already, ultimately, been decided, and while we'd love to have you, think it's a bit far along, we can get something going later, however, as I have two other apprentices as well, and I know at least one of them would love to become involved))
Colt thought on that for a while
"I never want to fight dear girl, but it falls upon me often, there are things in the galaxy worth fighting for... you need to know to defend yourself and that which you care about, I merely give you the skills, it's up to you how to use them..." he told her. Then he sighed, "But you can help people with the skills I teach, defend them, heal them... protect, and yes, I can show you more colors, but only in snippets, and not often, to reach inside someone's mind, you cannot speak more than a few words, or send a simple image..." he said, and he focused again, this time, he wanted to show her Jakelia.
Jakelia was a lush, green planet, full of sweltering forests, swamps, and in one spot, a desert... and lakes and rivers, shimmering blue in the bright sun... the place looked hot alright... and then the image would slowly fade.
"Jakelia is where I'll be taking you, it's the home of the Mandalorian Clan of Sorell," he told her. "It'll be there that we begin your training," he promised.

Re: Shuttle to Naboo
Taum nodded her head. She'd learn to be stronger with the force and be like the rest of her people. She'd be able to see without focusing hard. That made her so excited. She'd help people and bring peace.
Then the image of another plant flashed through her mind. This one was mostly green with tall trees and lakes and a dry desert. It was simple, but beautiful in its own way. It was beautiful to a girl who had never seen color in her life. She smiled happily and fixed her eye band. "I love it! I can't wait." Jakelia was a beautiful planet. Growing impatient, like any child, Taum grabbed Colton's hand and pulled on it. "Let's go!"

Re: Shuttle to Naboo
Colt looked the young girl over, and sighed softly... this wasn't the path he'd want for any child... but she needed guidance, and he didn't fully like the Jedi... and he abhorred the Sith, and Celeste had suggested he become a teacher, then so be it. He stood as she tugged on his hand, and moved toward the landing pad housing his ship. It was classified as a fighter, primarily... but with it's size and armaments, the Skipray Blastboat was also classified as a capital ship.
"Hit the ramp, Sevenate," he said, there was a soft buzz and a whirr, as the ramp descended, clanging on the ground as they approached, he'd move to walk up the ramp with the girl, glancing toward her briefly.
'Take the controls, it's okay, nothing out here to hit... go ahead and take us toward that asteroid field, nice and easy... okay, targeting, there's the trigger, watch the thumb stud, that'll be a missile...'
He blinked back the memory of another time, another place, and moved to put a hand on the girl's shoulder, to guide her to the cockpit.
"Sevenate, lock up and prep for launch," he added.
"Bee doo weep!" came the warble over the intercoms, from the droid locked into the ship's systems. The ramp retracted and closed, as he led her to the copilot seat, then locked out her console, just in case she got curious. He helped her with her harnesses, then moved to his own seat, the ship was already taking off.
"I've called you child, dear one, and am going to be calling you girl, but what is your name, girl?" he asked with a light smile, taking off his helmet, and hung it on the back of his seat. His face had been handsome, perhaps it still was, with twin scars, one that crossed from his left ear to the corner of his mouth, the other crossing from his right ear, across a glowing, crimson eye, and ended at the bridge of his nose. His left eye remained silvery grey, as it looked toward his console...
Soon, the ship would appear to stretch, thin as a thread, a wreath of blue energy surrounding it, as it passed through it- and it exploded into hyperspace, making it's way to Jakelia, deep in Mandalorian space.

Re: Shuttle to Naboo
Taum let Colton lead her into his ship. She pushed up her eye band again and looked up at him. He was a blurry grey and white figure to her eyes. She stumbled occasionally and luckily caught herself. He was talking to someone about the ship and she jumped when she felt him put his hand on her shoulder. She hadn't seen him move his hand.
He helped her get strapped into the chair and it made her feel even smaller than she already was. Because of her small size her feet didn't quite touch the floor, so she just let them swing. She focused on expanding her sight and found controls in front of her. She reached out felt the cold metal brush her fingertips. She shivered and withdrew her hand. She realized he had asked her for her name.
"Taum (Tom). T-A-U-M. Taum Swill." She smiled happily and messed with the straps on the harness. She looked over at him and realized he had taken off his helmet. She didn't see any detail of his face and so she reached out her hand, planning to touch his cheek. Her hand didn't reach at all.
Suddenly the ship jumped forward. Just outside the ship everything looked weird and made her nauseous. She threw a hand over her mouth and immediately shut down her sight. It didn't help at all and it felt like her stomach was in her throat. She kept shaking her head, trying to let Colton know that she was not okay. She felt at her straps, wanting to get out of them. She was not okay with hyperspace.

Re: Shuttle to Naboo
Colt watched her hand for a moment, but settled into his seat... up until they made the jump, then his gaze locked on her... he slipped one of his gauntlets off, and reached out, touching her shoulder again, with a bare hand, scarred with many a callous from working with live wires. He reached into himself, and began to pull and push through the Force. Seeking to revitalize her, the Force moving about her like a warm summer storm.
"Relax, what you're feeling is every life, every death, every bit of the galaxy as we pass it, happening on such a grand scale... just close your eyes for now..." he said, he didn't mean her actual eyes, but what his former apprentice once referred to as her not-eyes. He let the Force move through her, to calm her... to soothe her senses...
"This is the quickest way, you need to stay seated and strapped in, if we get attacked, you'd be thrown about, so ignore those feelings you have right now, they're only physical... cast them off, and instead, focus on the ship itself... not what goes on outside it, but what is here, inside it..." he said gently.

Re: Shuttle to Naboo
Taum felt his hand on her shoulder again, but without his gauntlet. She felt something that soothed her. It was the force. She didn't quite know what he was doing, but it worked and her stomach slowly settled. She breathed deeply, trying to keep herself calm. He told her what she felt was every life, death, and piece of the galaxy all at once. That probably added to it, but she knew that was not it. It was not force related; that she knew for sure.
She turned her head to Colton even though she could not see him at all. "I've never been in hyperspace before. My stomach couldn't handle it. The force had nothing to do with it." She pushed her eye band up again. "But thank you for helping. I don't feel sick anymore."

Re: Shuttle to Naboo
Colt nodded, and shifted to settle back into his seat.
"That shuttle you were on didn't make a jump to Naboo? Where was it coming from?" he asked her, it'd have to be nearby, he assumed. Though he nodded, taking the controls... it'd be a few hours before they dropped out of hyperspace again, Naboo and Jakelia was quite the jump between. He contemplated his course of actions, before nodding his head.
"It's a Jedi skill called Revitalize," he told her, "I often use it on myself when I've expended too much energy in the Force... you'll find that if you do too much in the Force, it can leave you weakened too, it's an infinite resource, but your body is not... to pass through your body, it can take a toll, it is why you'll need to strengthen your body with your mind, it's why you will be sore each day we are finished training, your muscles will ache from constant exertion until you grow accustomed to it," he pointed out, "This skill will help alleviate that, but it is a skill for those much stronger in the Force then you are, right now, that is, we'll fix that," he promised.
"You have questions..." he stated simply, stated, not asked. He expected them to come soon enough.

Re: Shuttle to Naboo
"I came from Alpheridies. It's our adopted homeworld." Taum pulled her long, silvery braid over her shoulder and played with the end. Her hair was always well cared for. she loved her long hair just as her father had. Her mother preferred shorter hair. He was talking about what he did with the force to calm her. Even talking to him was calming. It had been a while since she held a conversation with someone. It was boring and depressing to constantly be turned away.
He mentioned how he'd help her grow stronger in the force which made her so happy. "Then I'll be able to see!" She clapped her hands and smiled excitedly. He stated she had questions and she did, but not a whole lot. "Is Jakelia hot or cold? Are there a lot of people there or just a few? What are they like? Are you like their leader?" She paused and thought of any other questions. "Aaand. . .What is a Mandalorian exactly?"

Re: Shuttle to Naboo
Not the questions he had been expecting, but then, she was very young. He smiled softly, and leaned in his seat as the astromech droid took over the piloting for the moment.
"Jakelia can be pretty hot, it's mostly forests and jungles, with a swamp and desert thrown in, and humid, a lot of moisture in the air from the plethora of lakes and rivers that dot the planet," he told her, "I am the Chief of my Clan, there is a fair amount of us there, we have a camp that most would consider a small township. There are several clans scattered throughout Mandalorian space, we are comprised of several races, though Clan Sorell is, on majority, mostly Human and Zabrak," he explained. "We are a warrior people, we have a strong code of honor... all of us warriors first, though Sorell's people are also engineers, we build and repair just about anything," he explained.
"Mando Cabure are the men in golden armor, we're the police force of the Mandalorians, we try to keep other Mandalorians from giving us a bad name, bounty hunters, mercenaries, often working with people with no scruples, a lot of our people do cause problems, but the majority just wants a fair shake in this galaxy, there's plenty of history... I will get Hav--" there was a pause, a profound sense of sadness striking Colt as he thought of Hava. The brave, fierce old man who had taken up the archive of Sorell to keep and chronicle their entire history, of them, and all the galaxy known to the Clan... killed by the Sith... along with his security chief, Jen... "-I'll have Sid get you some material to listen to," he offered. "We can show you the library archive so that you can peruse everything we have, we can set them to audio," he offered.
