The first steps

Post by Gustav Trench » Fri Nov 16, 2018 12:53 pm

*somewhere in imperial space*
The shuttle landed, and Gustav stepped out of it. Th shuttle had brought him to an imperial controlled world. He began to walk around the city, and he soon found a cantina and entered. When he entered, he saw a lot of interesting looking persons in the cantina. ‘’Half of the species here I have not even seen before. Who knows who they are, maybe imperial officers, spies for the alliance, maybe even those wretched Blue Star Pirates the ones who killed my parents.’’ Gustav thought before walking to the bar and sitting down before it. ‘’That is something I don’t see every day.’’ The bartender said while looking at the spider like alien that had entered his bar. ‘’What can I get you?’’ ‘’the strongest thing you got.’’ I said. ‘’I hope you don’t mind me asking? But I have never seen a Harch here, so what are you doing here?’’ the bartender asks while making his drink. ‘’Long story short, a month a go civil war broke out on my planet. I was the head of the navy defense force. So I made sure that any hired help from the enemy didn’t reach the surface. For a while I was successful, but then a large group of pirate ships entered the system and our ships were outmatched and retreated to a safer side and wait to engage them when the went into orbit. It worked, and we surprised the pirates but not before their flagship bombarded the capital city and disappeared, we destroyed most of the pirate’s ships, but the flagship got away. In the bombardment my parents died.’’ I said. While the bartender had set my drink before me continuing to listen. ‘’This happened about a month ago. I have spend this month finding out who the pirates were that killed my parents. I found out from the wreckage that the pirates in question were the Blue Star Pirates. I also found out that their leader is a Verpine I don’t know his name, but I will find him and get my revenge.’’ I said. ‘’What are you going to do when you find him?’’ the bartender asked. ‘’I am going to satisfy my thirst for blood with his flesh.’’ I said in a dark tone. While using one of my arms to take my drink and empty the glass in one motion in my mouth. ‘’You mean you are going to eat him. But how will you get close enough to do this?’’ he asked. ‘’I have thought about that much and I have concluded I have to join one of the major powers in the galaxy to get close enough to devour the beast that killed my parents. Seeing that joining the pirates isn’t really an option and seeing that the galactic alliance has fought alongside the pirates before, the only real option is the empire.’’ I said. ‘’The empire. I don’t want to offend but you are an alien and mostly the empire hates aliens.’’ The bartender said. ‘’I know but I also know that there have been exceptions for those aliens who were loyal to the empire.’’ I say. ‘’So you’re telling me that you are loyal to the empire?’’ he asks. ‘’I am saying that I agree with a lot of the laws from the empire, and that I think I can be of use to them. It may have been only on my planet, but military experience is military experience and I have a lot of it.’’ I say. ‘’You never know it might just work indeed, do you have a plan to contact someone from the empire?’’ the bartender asks. ‘’I don’t really, I hoped I would run into some one in imperial space or someone would run into me. That is why I have come here, I am hoping I will meet some officer from the empire here in the city or maybe even in this bar.’’ I said while looking to all those people that were sitting in the bar, maybe just maybe my way to revenge was sitting only a few meters away from me. I thought while clicking with my mouth.

(ooc: please feel free to interact with Gustav. I am new to the worl of roleplaying so I hope there are people that can help my character know the current state of the galaxy.)

***Tinnel System, Quanta Sector, Grid Coordinates M-12***

The nights were long on Tinnel IV. As its three moons rose higher and higher in the evening sky, so too did the planet's temperature drop to a freezing low. For those that could afford heating, the inevitable cold-snap was nothing more than a natural phenomena best viewed with a glass of brandy. For the other settlements surrounding the capitol city of Val Denn, the situation was far less accommodating. Though Captain Vassyl and his XO, Lieutenant Torbough, had argued furiously that their credentials were perfectly sound, some customs official, likely working under the bias of the one of the Inner Rim Admirals, had played the fool, and barred both men from attending a much anticipated meeting of the Imperial War College.

Understandably dejected by this turn of events, the naval duo had little choice but to seek out whatever warmth they could, be it a cheap hostel or a warm drink. Clinging to the hope that his triplicate forms might end up in the right hands before the far-flung sunrise arrived, Doren decided to take his chances on the latter. The bar was surprisingly seedy for a near-core system. Nonetheless, such was the weakness of historically asymmetric economics such as the model in place on this world. Thankfully, the presence of not one but two Imperial officers usually ensured for a lack of ruckus, and quick service at that. Thought admittedly, despite the grandeur of the two gentlemen's gray uniforms was somewhat undermined by their twice-frozen short cloaks that lazily clamped to their person.

At least the veterans weren't left by their lonesome, as a handful of army combatants served as a small yet effective escort should any tomfoolery occur. "Watch the entryways and exits, and keep an ear to the ground for anything suspicious", Lieutenant Torbough cautioned, dismissing the armored protectors to move about as they saw fit. The Reverent's second in command then turned to his superior, and inquired, "Shall we find something to satisfy our thirst Sir?". "By all means Vincent", Doren quipped back casually, "So long as its served hot". A chuckle sprung from one man and infected the other, only for weariness to set in once more. Slowly making his way towards the bar, the Captain raised an inquisitive eyebrow at the Harch seated a ways away: that wasn't something one saw every day, much less in the Empire.

I looked around the bar once, and then I saw it. Two humans removing their cloaks and underneath it the grey uniform of an imperial officer. I also saw that a few other men probably imperials as well were serving as a kind of body guard for the two men. ‘’That sure look like imperials, don’t they?’’ I asked the bartender. ‘’They sure are my friend.’’ Was the answer. ‘’If you want a chance to meet an imperial officer, I think this is the only chance you will get on this backwater world.’’ ‘’You are right. This probably my only chance, I will give it a try.’’ I said while handing the bartender some credits for my previous drink.
I step up and walk to the two men sitting at a table.
They sure looked curious to see a Harch in imperial space.

‘’Mind if I join you gentlemen, I would like some company to get through this cold and dark night?’’ I ask to the imperials while standing next to one of them.

Prazutis' imperial shuttle moved towards Tinnel IV's atmosphere, Prazutis thinking to himself as his ship stopped for a refueling. It wasn't often that he went so far that it needed to be refueled, but at times that he made longer trips, it did happen.
His shuttle slowly landed in a spaceport of one of the larger cities, Prazutis taking the time to step out of his shuttle and stretch his legs a bit. An inquisitor didn't always have to be doing something, he thought to himself, there was still down time, even for force users.
Prazutis walked into one of the resident cantinas, sighing as he looked at the small group of imperials that was spread out through the bar before noticing the captain and his lieutenant at the bar. Taking a moment, he recognized the captain's green attire and approached him, sitting down beside the lieutenant and seeing the Harch who approached. He paid no attention to him as he took a moment, letting them speak as he only made his presence known by gently tapping the shoulder of the lieutenant. He wasn't rude enough to interrupt, but he also didn't want to sneak up on the pair. Knowing the veterans of the empire, they'd most likely see with their blasters better than their eyes. Years of fighting tends to have that effect if you don't completely have eyes in the back of your head...

A grey skinned humanoid noted the Imperial officers enter the bar and pulled his down-filled jacket a little tighter. The Tinnel system was a salient in the frontier between the Galactic Alliance and Galactic Empire. The system was a protrusion that foiled the Galactic Alliance's control of the Corellian Run from Corellia all the way down near the Lamaro system in Wild Space. As the two superpowers skirmished and pushed against one another, Tinnel was the one system that remained steadfast throughout. It had become clear to the inhabitants of Tinnel IV that the Empire wasn't going anywhere soon, though they certainly didn't appear in establishments such as this.

The humanoid's amber eyes left the Imperials and went back to the low-quality handheld holoprojector that he had placed on the table before him. It was best for one's health if they didn't make eyes at the local authorities, particularly if they were an "enterprising" individual with a distaste for the Empire, as he was. He didn't need any Imperial complications on this night; he was waiting for the device before him to come to life, then he was out of this dump and back out into the cold.

Before he ever had an opportunity to notice the hairy arachnid or the newest sentient to stride through the door, the holoprojector came to life, a miniature blue-hued image standing atop the table. An image of a Verpine stood before the grey skinned humanoid, on time, and just as expected.

"Captain, I trust our arrangement is still in place?" the humanoid said, just loud enough to be heard over the cacophony that filled the establishment.

Vincent was immediately offput by the Harch's request. Granted, while Doren had effectively drilled any racial bias out of his colleague, the younger member of the Trench family was no less intimidating based on size and stature. And, what's more, few individuals had the boldness, or, depending on their understanding, the ignorance to make brazen requests of an Imperial officer, even if their intention was ultimately peaceful. Nonetheless, with a friendly nod from the Captain, his subordinate's anxieties cooled some, and the Lieutenant calmly answered back, "The more the merrier I suppose: by all means". Vincent swept a hand out in front of him, and non-verbally emphasized the vacant, adjacent seat.

Vassyl moved to speak, but suddenly cut himself off as a familiar masked figure strode onto the scene. Be it the will of the Force or some ironic timing, Inquisitor Prazutis always seemed to be a step ahead or, in this case, a step behind the Captain. Doren was certain the citadel office had received no word regarding his attendance at the war college, yet all the same, this was not an unwelcome appearance. After a round of beverages, perhaps Vassyl could get Prazutis to incentivize the officials that had barred his entry early. For now however, Doren's newest acquaintance was in dire need of some background. "Do tell friend", the Captain began in a casual tone, "What brings one such as yourself so far from home?".

"What brings one such as yourself so far away from home?" Was the question one of the imperials asked while the other pointed towards an empty seat. I sat down and began to talk. “the reason I am here is two things, first new opportunities, for years I have been the head of my planets defense force but after sometime I found my job kind of boring mostly because of the limited ships and men that were part of the defense force and the endless stream of over confident pirates so now I seek another place that may have use of my military skill and experience . Another reason, revenge against the Verpine leader of the blue star pirates, not only because he bombed my capital but because in doing so he killed my parents. And I am going to do what nature demands, for the spider to eat the bug.” I said while looking at the imperial who asked the question. The other imperial looked a bit uncomfortable after hearing this but it could also just be his dislike of aliens. At least I am interested how to other imperial will react.

Prazutis idly listened to the chatter between the arachnid humanoid and the captain, scanning the room around him before his eyes locked onto the holo-image of the verpine. Looking it over for a moment, he thought to himself. Was that figure familiar? He wondered, pondering over his past quietly. He had never had the best memory, especially since his mind had been toyed with by Rhoden Carbine, but he thought he remembered the verpine from somewhere else...
However, waving the thought off, he sighed. It could have been just another one of the workers he had glanced over during his and Rhoden's excursion on Roche. But, he wasn't for sure. All verpine look the same, he said to himself as he went back to listening to the idle chat beside him.

Doren and Vincent exchanged a dark look in light of Gustav's tale. Secundus Ando had fallen into rebel hands some time ago, and, depending on when the good Mister Trench had taken his leave of his people and his government, then this entire conversation may well be the confession of a would-be defector. Or, on the hand, the machinations of a would-be spy. Which of the two postures was true remained to be seen, and while Vassyl was not one to condemn a being on suspicion, it was better to exercise pragmatism in such cases. Nonetheless, as the younger Trench continued his tale of seeming woe, the Captain easily registered the venom in his voice regarding a thirst for revenge. That sentiment was not simply fabricated once more.

Vassyl nestled a gloved fist under his chin, and sat for a moment in thought. He thought it unlikely that a large pirate entity would move against an out-of-the-way system like the Arachnid's Homeworld. That said, if the Harch's ruling body had been taking liberties with their political power, or rather, running their system with a dogma that counteracted the so-called democracy of the Galactic Alliance, they might not be above sending an interest third party to handle their dirty laundry. Regarding recent Imperial history, the infamous Blue Star group had handily thwarted many a naval force during the siege and capture of Coruscant. If a similar fate befell Trench's capital, then he would earn Doren's sympathies at least. "So then", Vassyl finally continued, "You wish to offer your services to the Empire then? Know that it is not a commitment my overseers will take lightly: you must be absolutely certain in your resolve".

‘’I can assure you that if I am given a chance in the empire, I can be very useful.’’ I say ‘’And my resolve never has been stronger. For our people honor is important and when we make a pledge, we will stick to it until released of service or killed.’’ I continue. ‘’I never really expected the conversation would lead to this, if this would work I would not only have a chance at revenge, but I would have a new career one that is certainly not boring, at least not with the war with the alliance.’’ I think to myself. ‘’So is there really a possibility of me joining the empire?’’ I asked the man, hoping that the empire might have grown a bit more accepting of aliens, because if not me being in the empire while my home planet is in the alliance might cause some real issues.
