2nd time's the charm...?

Post by Neive Undant » Tue May 01, 2018 3:38 pm

Neive's Z-95 headhunter and his ETA 2-class interceptor flanked him, droids piloting as he sat in the cockpit of his newly obtained YT, even though he was still unsure of why it was given to him, or who gave it to him...

Nonetheless, the 3 vessels slowly moved through space, the planet of Mimban just behind them. Neive calculated the jumps towards Naboo, thinking as he prepared to make one of 3 jumps needed in order to safely arrive.

"Well... hopefully it'll go a bit smoother this time."

whether it jinxed him or not, he almost knew it would not be as easy as he hoped.

One XJ. One B-wing. It was the start of a solid effort. Zechs stood outside the cockpits, trying to decide which he’d fly and which Bob the Flying Guy. It didn’t take him long to climb into the XJ with its fresh lavender paint and aft sticker. “My other fighter is a TIE.” The B-wing’s sticker read “B seeing you.” It was about time he had fun with his collection.

Soon they were up and joining the actual convoy doing its convoy thing. There was no telling how important or humiliating the cargo was, because he didn’t look at the manifest. There had been more important things. Breakfast was never overrated. He didn’t want to think about it. It’d only make him hungry.

Now, they waited to get underway.

An XJ X-wing dropped into formation behind Zechs’ B-wing and XJ. Ryder sat quietly in the cockpit of the vessel staring out at the small convoy. He had masked his presence in the Force before arriving to make sure not to set off any potential Jedi in the convoy.

“Meesa pilot Gupfa, heresa to escorts da cargos,” a distinctly Gungan voice echoed into the comms of the Alliance ships. Ryder flicked of the comms still not sure why he had decided to go through with this wacky plan. Step one was done, meet up with the convoy and contact them with the Gungan voice modulator. Now the rest was up to the Imperial task force that was suppose to be waiting some where out there. But while he waited Ryder was going to do his best to try and read the bumper stickers on the two fighters in front of him.

Mean while in deep space a Tie Defender sat waiting for the Alliance convoy to make their first jump into hyperspace. The Imperial pilot looked at the nav data and hoped that he had positioned himself right with the data forwarded by Ryder.

It was to be a game of stealth. Wily as ever, Ryder had proposed a daring ruse, and Vassyl had been quick to back it, for fear of the CEO's safety if nothing else. Sitting quietly within the confines of the Proudclad, the Line Captain patiently awaited his wayward comrade's signal. If all went as planned, the Rebels were in for a nasty surprise. Fortunately for them, the Alliance capital was well situated away from the Imperial border. Unfortunately, its placement in the Mid Rim came loaded with asteroid fields, nebulae, and other more frequent distortions: all of which provided the perfect hiding place for a small Imperial strike team. Tapping his gloved thumb upon one of several displays, Doren glanced over several navigation charts, and began to ruminate on the potential paths the enemy convoy could take. One way or another, Ryder would find them. And, when the time came, all hope of a peaceful journey would vanish into stardust.

The Wave Dancer and Blackheart slipped quietly from hyperspace and immediately transmitted his military ident codes that would flag him as friendly to the other escorts, before taking up perimeter duty around the convoy. The bulky ships, just finishing up loading procedures and soon, he knew, they'd be under way.

"Final checks," Norongachi spoke over the secure com to his wing man, Tw4t, in the Firespray to his right. His screen began to fill with the weapons, engines and mechanical checks from both ships and then hung.. "What?" the cockpit filled with the low drone of droid-speak and then his eyes narrowed. His hand moved with practiced ease over the control board and he patched himself into the encrypted military control channel. "Wavedancer to command, we're flagging a boggey running old codes. Can you confirm?"

"The flight itinerary only has us down for three jumps. Does that seem right to you?" the ex-Stormtrooper, ex-Antarian Ranger, current pirate asked Buggie with a cocked eyebrow as he surveyed the navicomputer.

Buggie was just returning to the cockpit after surveying that the cargo had been properly secured within its pressurized storage containers. Swamp gas was a resource native to Mimban, and, while it often had unsavory ties to dioxis production, it did possess some lesser-known industrial utility. Outland Transport had been contracted to haul the swamp gas for the Galactic Alliance, particularly because they had a proven track record handling potentially volatile goods, and because the pressurized cargo containers were only large enough to fit inside of a heavy transport's hold, such as those that Outland 01 and Outland 02 boasted.

As for the flight itinerary, the aforementioned Gary Storm was notorious for being a weak astrogator. The R1-series astromech droid that had been installed at the edge of the Outland 02's shipboard console bank was testament to that. Buggie promised to review the itinerary as he seated himself in the co-pilot's chair, fully intending to find that everything was in order. What he did find, was that there was more to the journey than had evidently been planned for.

Deciding that the navigation should be double checked before the convoy's initial jump, Buggie called over the convoy's general line, "Convoy leader, this is Outland 02. Please confirm itinerary is as follows: Convoy departs current position within Circarpous system galactic west along Nanth'ri Route to Exodeen system. Jump two; Exodeen system galactic south along the Hydian to the Harrin Trade Corridor, Pax system. Jump three; around the half-loop from the Pax system along the Enarc Run to destination within Naboo system."

While Buggie and Storm awaited confirmation, they continued running the standard system checks to ensure that the transports were in good enough shape to handle the extensive journey. Fortunately, since the entirety of the flight from Mimban to Naboo took place within Galactic Alliance space, the worst they had to worry about was the maintenance of the ship. Imperial complications had been on the rise lately, according to all reports on the HoloNet, and the volatile swamp gas had no place being near laser cannon fire.

If stealth was the name of the game, then stealth was what one figure had in spades. The blue-black, bulbous pod, with it's tri-tips, shimmering in and out of existence, as it cloaked and decloaked. Eager to get on with the mission at hand, a simple raiding venture she wanted every part in. Her only hope was that there could be the endless possibility of spilling blood. The black and white void that stretched before her was gorgeous, sure, but it needed some vibrant red, to really make the whole thing just-- pop.

"Mistress Silence, please, if you keep playing with our cloaking device, you risk shorting it out," came the response of the droid behind her.

"Psh, Fear, that's part of the fun, risk and reward... death and destruction... the Dark Side is on our side, nothing can take that from us," the yellow eyed pilot purred.

"A stray turbolaser could..." Belfor chimed in with an electronic sigh.

Neive nodded, looking down at the comm as everyone chimed in. Neive listened before thinking, not giving a response for the gungan voice as he ran the codes. He went to the encrypted channel as he heard another voice giving the same suspicion as him...

"Wavedancer to command, we're flagging a boggey running old codes. Can you confirm?"

Neive nodded to himself before he responded.

"Wavedancer, this is command. Bogey flagged, not sure the origin. Keep an eye out, he's not one of us, and he's not scheduled... but we can't act until we get through our first jump." Neive hesitated. "Once we come out from the first jump, we'll deal with them."

Neive stopped to listen to the next voice, still making sure his comm was encrypted so the unknown vessel was deaf to the conversation.

"Outland 02, this is command. That's the plan, but we've got some company. We have an escort running old codes, most likely a hostile or spy." Neive thought. "He can't hear me now, but I'm going to try to divert him away. Give him false information, if it doesn't work, we'll have to deal with him more directly."

Neive turned back to the main channel, making sure that the bogey could hear him. "Almost. We're going from the Exodeen system down the Correllian run towards Christophsis, then from there east to Naboo."

Hopefully the unknown ship followed the path down and away from them. This shipment was very small, but it didn't make it any less valuable. Everything they moved counted, and they needed to try to let the other groups have as little as possible...

Planetary orbit, Circarpous V (Mimban)
Vicinity of Circarpous V Orbital Space Station Halla
Circarpous system, Circarpous sector

Jedi Rainwalker breathed his impatience out into the Force. Sitting in the pilot's chair of the YT-2000 Scintillance, the Son of Rainwalker couldn't wait to get to Naboo. It had been weeks since he'd been home, since he'd seen his aunt, Master Xin, Murph, half of his droid entourage - they were all on Naboo. Only he was here, hauling freighters of swamp gas.

Granted, what made this particular occasion unique was that this time, Jedi Rainwalker was flying alongside Master Buggie and the Outland Transport. Occasions where Jedi Rainwalker got to fly alongside the very bug that had inducted him into the Jedi Coalition itself were rare, and were always an opportunity he looked forward to. Even though he was a Jedi Knight himself, he always felt he could glean more and more from the beehive of wisdom that was Master Buggie.

Besides, him and Zechs were in one of those I'm-Not-Gonna-Talk-To-You-For-A-Week weeks. The guy had tried to swindle a bunch of duck dealers again (seriously, who tries to sell a duck at the price of a quadduck?). Things got out of hand. Ani pretended not to know Zechs when he realised the duck dealers had links to Kanjiklub. Zechs narrowly escaped a warranted beating, and now they were not talking again. They were too good friends for it to last longer than a week, and this was a usual thing really. Still, Ani was glad to be around Master Buggie right now instead of Zechs.

So, the YT-2000 and YT-1300 light freighters were loaded to the brim with swamp gas, each of them bilaterally Master Buggie's heavy haulers. His comms, connecting to both Outland and GA channels independently, picked up something about Gungans and bogeys and old codes.

"Meh, hakuna matata," Jedi Rainwalker drawled before closing his eyes and immersing himself into the Force, before this trip got any weirder. Greatest thing about being a Jedi was that he could afford to go to extreme lengths of epic laziness to avoid fighting, and when it came to it, trust others to pull the guns while he did the mediating.

Yeah, the good life.

IMPORTANT ACTION SUMMARY
  • Ani's YTs are flanking Master Buggie's transports
  • Gungans, bogeys. A Jedi craves not these things

He had spent hours the day before in the flight simulator, he had been developing his piloting skills as much as he was his martial skills and his power in the Force. Warvanus was running solo on this little venture, he had his protocol droid KL-PK1 , the designation had given him, he was a sassy droid and for some odd reason he put up with him. The last time he did this sort of thing the pack had failed. Hopefully this time he would not fail.

His R-41 Starchaser fighter had no name, he had previously called it the schmitar but realized that name was a common used name. He had went with the designation PLK2 for now untl he decided on a new name. His starfighter jumped out of hyperspace and returned into realspace, to see some other ships in the vicinity. This could be trouble he thought to himself. He was pretty sure the convoy would be making another jump but this time he would be ready as he had his droid began making calculations on possible jump locations. He did not swoop in threateningly close no he would keep his distance but be ready to pursue at a moment’s notice. He sure wish the rest of the pack was with him, but he also was his own man, he had the darkside afterall.
