The Master... (Buggie Training)

Post by Master Buggie » Fri Sep 29, 2017 1:16 am

A vivid swirl of colors ran through Buggie's mind. He was engulfed in the sea of reds, blues, and yellows; not knowing their purpose or their reason. Everything seemed so calm and peaceful as Buggie lay and let the colors swirl around his body. Was it a new way of viewing the Force flowing and running through every object? No, Buggie was quite certain of that, even in his current state. He tried not to think about questions or answers; his only purpose was to float in these mysterious colors for as long as he could. It was the most relaxing moment Buggie had experienced in a long time. He had no idea where he was or how he got there, but it was far away from a galaxy engulfed in turmoil. As he floated along in the sea of colors, Buggie knew his time had come. It was time to face the galaxy once more. Suddenly, in a painless moment, it was all over.

Buggie opened his eyes to the world of Naboo once more. The sun shone beautifully into his window, illuminating a square shaped area on his bed. Buggie closed his eyes again, trying to catch a few more seconds of wonderful sleep. It was all in vain, he knew, for it was time to get up. Sighing, Buggie rolled off of his soft mattress and stood up, stretching out his awakened body. After a series of satisfying pops and cracks, Buggie finished stretching and strode over to his window. Naboo was obviously a beautiful place; it didn't matter who you were, it was just a commonly appreciated fact. It was also the secret home to the Jedi Enclave, the main base, so to speak, of Jedi Coalition operations. This was where Buggie was living now, in peaceful comfort. He had begun his strenuous training roughly a week ago with the assistance of the Grand Master Eryk Aiden. Now, Buggie's orders were to prepare to meet his own Master who would take personal responsibility in directing his training. Buggie had been keeping his limited skills sharp while he awaited the arrival of his mysterious Master. In his usual day-to-day routine, Buggie visited the Jedi Archives to view the history of the Jedi Order, now known as the Jedi Coalition. He had learned a great deal, but was always mindful of the advice that Grand Master Aiden had bestowed upon him, "knowledge is nothing without understanding."

Today would not be any different. Buggie would practice his skills outdoors after his mind had grown tired of reading and studying, at least that was the plan. Buggie had found a particularly interesting piece in the Jedi Archives about various occupations that the Jedi held in the former Jedi Order. From Jedi Librarian to Jedi Ace, the application of the Force to any occupation seemed extremely useful. One occupation that specifically interested Buggie was the role of Jedi Investigator. He recalled reading that Investigators traveled the galaxy, defending against darkness and evil before they had a chance to strike. They would use their Force skills to investigate phantom threats to the galaxy and bring them to a halt. As he stared out his window to the serene landscape of forests and hills, he kept that occupation in the back of his mind. Buggie made a mental note to look it up once he arrived at the Jedi Archives.

Turning from the window, Buggie made his way over to his half-open closet. Pulling the door open all the way, Buggie reached in to his limited wardrobe and pulled out his Jedi robes. Buggie was very proud of owning a set of Jedi robes and wore them to the Jedi Archives every day. Laying them down on his unmade bed, Buggie looked at them proudly. The outer part of the robes was dark brown in color, with a hood on the back that Buggie liked to raise when practicing his skills in the Force. The overtunic and undertunic were a pure brown color. A dark brown belt that was worn to keep his tunics together finished off the outfit. Buggie took his beloved robes off of the hanger and dressed himself. Many Jedi had boots that they wore with their robes, but Buggie's feet were a phenomenon to the tailor that took his measurements. Verpine had sharp claws on their feet, not to mention three toes which were spread out. Any type of boots worn would be awkward, hideous, and not functional. As Buggie pulled on his undertunic, he imagined what they would look like. Clown shoes were the first image that flashed through his head. In any case, the tailor pieced together his robes in a way that didn't call for boots. As a result, the tunics flowed down above his knees in a sort of loose skirt. To fix this, Buggie was issued some tight brown leggings that would complete his outfit without awkwardness. Overall, it ended up looking fine, despite the complications. Buggie was proud to wear his robes, no matter how they looked.

Pulling on his outer robe, Buggie finished getting dressed and closed his closet door. Buggie now had the feeling of being ready to start the day. Stepping back over to his bed, he began to put his sheets back into order, as always. Unlike humans, Verpine needed to do little in the morning to make themselves look socially acceptable. No hair to comb and no teeth to brush meant that Buggie was, for all intents and purposes, ready to go as soon as he woke up. After a few moments, Buggie had finished making his bed. He fluffed his pillow and then set it back on top of his sheets. Now that he had done his usual morning routine, Buggie was ready to set out for the Jedi Archives.

Opening his door and stepping out into the hall, Buggie closed the door behind him. As soon as the door quietly clicked shut, Buggie began walking to the Jedi Archives.

Buggie continued down the halls of the Jedi Enclave, his robes swirling around him as he walked to the Jedi Archives. Over the past few days, Buggie had come into contact with a number of fellow Jedi and various Enclave workers. As he strode down the hallway, he recognized a few familiar faces and nodded in greeting to them as he passed by. It was easy to make acquaintances at the Enclave, as all the people Buggie had met so far were friendly and agreeable. The atmosphere around the Enclave really made it a peaceful place for Buggie to study.

As he entered the complex that the Jedi Archives were located in, Buggie called a lift to take him up to the main floor. After a few moments, the lift had arrived, opening to let out a Human and a Mon Calamari. Buggie nodded and wished them a good morning as they passed, which they returned merrily. Buggie then stepped into the lift and keyed the command for the main floor. As the doors closed, Buggie leaned back onto the back wall. The lift jerked slightly as it began to raise itself up to the main floor of the Jedi Archives. Soon enough, the lift had arrived, its doors opening smoothly to the main level of the Archives. Buggie stepped out of the lift and made his way over to the Archives.

The Archives looked like that of any other library, but it consisted of levels of shelves and computers. The records and information were all of a blue hue sitting on the bookshelves. There was a wealth of information related to the Jedi within the entire Archives; Buggie could only imagine how much more there would be if much of the information wasn't lost in attacks against the Jedi. Many other Jedi thoughtfully wandered the Archives, perhaps searching for knowledge that would help them with their understanding of the Force. Buggie made his way over to an empty computer terminal to sit down and began to search for the last document he left off on the previous day. As he accessed the search function, he noticed a strange feeling come over him. It felt as if someone was watching him with interest. Buggie stopped, resting his hands on the keyboard of the computer.

Suddenly, a voice spoke from directly behind him. Surprised, Buggie turned around as a man spoke to him, "So you're Buggie, I presume? I heard I could find you here."

Although he wasn't immediately apprehensive, Buggie was curious as to who this stranger was. The man seemed to be of a species that Buggie had never seen before. His eyes were startling pure black orbs, and his skin was a light blue color, not unlike some of the records at the Archives. His hair was golden and almost feather-like upon first glance. Truly, this man was a sight to see. But who was he? On top of that, Buggie wondered why this mysterious man was searching for him.

After a moment, Buggie gained his senses back and spoke in as friendly of a tone as he could, "It seems you've found me! My name is Buggie; what can I do for you?"

Smirking, the man nodded and continued, "It's more of a question as to what I can do for you, really. My name is Godot. I've been assigned by the Jedi Council to train you."

Buggie's eyes lit up as he immediately sprung out of his chair. He bowed to his new master, and said, "My apologies, Master Godot. I didn't realize who you were."

Now Godot laughed quietly and said, "Don't worry, I didn't expect you to know who I was. I've been away from the Jedi Coalition for a little bit, but that's a story for another day. I'm sure by the time you arrived here I was still away."

"Of course. I'm glad to finally meet you though!" Buggie said, offering his hand to his master.

Taking his hand and shaking it firmly before releasing, Godot said, "It's a pleasure Buggie. I see a lot of potential in you, I hope that I can bring it to it's fullest. You're the first Padawan I've ever been assigned to, you see. I've planned a few basic training exercises for you that should help expand your skills in the Force. After we've finished those, we'll move on to progressively more advanced techniques. What do you say we get started now?"

Smiling, Buggie said, "Certainly!"

"Alright then, follow me," Godot said, as he began walking towards the exit of the Archives.

Buggie followed his new master excitedly. He made sure to keep his emotions in check, but he couldn't help but be eager to begin his training with Master Godot.

((OOC: Original post by Eryk Aiden.))

From one of the upper levels of the Jedi Archive complex Eryk leaned over the balcony and watched with a sense of happiness as the newcomer Buggie, the Verpine Jedi hopeful Eryk had found on Ossus, was introduced to Master Godot, the Omwati who would become Buggie's new mentor.

As Godot and Buggie shook hands Eryk witnessed the beginnings of a new and wonderful partnership. Despite this being Godot's first chance to train a Padawan the Jedi Council knew that he had the skills to bring out the best in Buggie. It would also give Godot the chance to improve himself. Eryk couldn't wait to see how both master and pupil would grow in the Force, and also see how well they would work together. Judging from what he saw, it seemed as if things were already off to a good start.

As Buggie followed his new master towards the archive exit Eryk remained behind, watching them from above. He felt growing pride over what he saw here today. Through his own actions Eryk had brought the Jedi back from the brink of extinction and reformed the Jedi Order much like Master Skywalker had done years before on Yavin IV. Eryk was still young and perhaps inexperienced in running the Order but it was times like this, when despite all that was going on in the galaxy, new Jedi paths were being forged, which excited Eryk the most. Below him was evidence of the continuing growth of the Jedi, and the future of the Order which he loved and believed in dearly. Seeing the Jedi Order he helped create and run working together so well gave him the inspiration to continue onward.

After following his new master out of the Archives, Buggie continued following him down the Enclave halls. After walking for a few minutes, Buggie began to notice something strange. Other people didn't seem to notice Master Godot or even acknowledge him as he walked by them in the halls. Whenever Buggie was off to do something, it seemed that almost everyone he saw at least nodded in greeting to him. What made his master so different?

Deciding to see if he could scrape up any details, Buggie asked his master, "You mentioned earlier that you were away from the Jedi Coalition for some time. What was it that you were doing?"

Glancing at Buggie, Master Godot seemed hesitant to answer, but responded, "I also said that it was a story for another day. Don't worry, it's nothing sinister. You still have much training to go through before I feel you're ready to know, my young Padawan."

Nodding, Buggie said, "Yes, Master."

Although his master had ended the conversation before it even had a chance to start, the question still weighed heavily on Buggie's mind. All he could do at this point was speculate. Part of Buggie was also disappointed that his new master was already keeping information from him. Another part of him wanted to believe that it was all for the better; that Master Godot knew what he was doing. Buggie shrugged it off and continued following his master through the Enclave halls. It seemed they were entering the dining commons nearby Buggie's room. What did Master Godot have in store for him? As they turned a corner and entered the busy dining area, Master Godot continued through into the large kitchen.

Holding the door for Buggie, Godot said, "Don't worry if we're not allowed back here. We'll reach our destination soon enough."

Buggie made an unsure expression on his face, but continued on into the kitchen. Master Godot then led Buggie around another corner into the back of the kitchen. It was incredible that they hadn't been caught yet, but no one was around wherever Godot was headed. Finally, Master Godot seemed have arrived. Buggie couldn't believe his eyes at where they were going to train. He didn't want to believe what he saw. It must have been a bad dream, but it was certainly all real. Master Godot opened the door and held it for Buggie.

Smiling, he said, "In we go."

The freezer. Master Godot had led him into a freezer to train. Buggie didn't dare voice his disapproval, but he was sure his body language said everything he was thinking. As soon as they were both in, Master Godot closed the door behind them. He stepped over to an open space and sat, motioning for Buggie to do the same. Buggie sat and prepared himself mentally for whatever exercise Master Godot had in mind for him. Shivering, Buggie raised his hood in an attempt to keep himself from freezing.

Immediately, Master Godot put a hand out and said, "What are you doing?"

Buggie felt as if he looked at Master Godot like he was insane, "Master, with respect, I'm raising my hood so I don't freeze to death."

"No no no. In fact, get up and take your robes off. You can keep those leggings on, if you'd like. You must learn to use the Force in any situation. That's why I've brought you here. You're not going to find yourself fighting in warm, sunny conditions whenever you come across trouble. That's what I don't like about Naboo; it's too serene. Jedi need to know how to use the Force in any conditions, anywhere. You want to be able to focus on the Force and not on the conditions. Hopefully under my guidance it will become a second nature for you to be comfortable using the Force in any adverse environment. Too many good Jedi have died in the past because they weren't comfortable focusing on the Force in bad conditions. You won't be one of them," Master Godot said as he stood and disrobed himself.

The cold ate at Buggie as he pulled his robes off. Once he had finished removing his clothing, he sat down, shivering more than ever. Master Godot sat before him, having already removed his robes. Unbelievably, Master Godot looked comfortable sitting before Buggie. It was as if the temperature of the freezer wasn't even bothering him. Trying to keep himself warm, Buggie placed his shivering arms together and looked to his master.

"Excellent. I'm glad you haven't complained so far. Let's begin your training, shall we?" Master Godot said, looking at his Padawan with a smile.

((OOC: Training for 'Control 1' begins here. I'm also aware that I named Aida Khan as my Master. There was no Master involved, so I just left it as the default choice.))

Buggie sucked in a deep breath of cold air through his chittering mouth and nodded to his instructor. He didn't know how long he could take such frigid temperatures, but he still needed to focus on the task at hand. His body hadn't become numb yet, but he was sure he would lose the feeling in his fingers in a matter of minutes. He desperately prayed that he wouldn't get frostbite from this experience.

Master Godot proceeded to turn back and reach into one of the pockets of his robes. After a moment of searching, Master Godot pulled out a small pair of cubes, which Buggie instantly recognized as dice.

"Strange place to do gambling, Master." Buggie joked as he huddled himself up to preserve heat.

Godot laughed and explained, "Not quite. I can tell you already have a basic understanding of the Force and how to sense it. What I'm going to attempt teaching you is how to control the Force. Controlling the Force essentially comes down to changing how an object or person does something. It can be applied to a number of things. For example, you can use your control over the Force to allow yourself to meditate for long periods of time. Anyway, I will demonstrate what I'm going to teach you. Give me a number two through twelve."

"Eleven," Buggie said.

Godot then shook the dice in his hand for a moment and threw them down onto the ground. After rolling on the floor for only a second or two, Buggie saw that the one of the die landed showing a five and the other a six. Buggie looked up at his master and smiled.

"You see? Using the Force to influence how the dice land is a prime example of control. I'd like you to start off with one die, and then move to two. I'll tell you the number and then you focus and get the result. Remember to allow the Force to flow through you. Become connected with the Force and feel how it flows through all things in this freezer. Reach out to the dice and influence them. Ignore the cold, Buggie. Just become in-tune with the Force and concentrate on the dice. Let me know when you're ready to begin," Godot said to Buggie.

Buggie nodded and closed his eyes, feeling the Force flow through him. Taking a deep breath, he recapped everything his master had said to him. He had observed the Force flowing many times, it was no longer a difficulty to him. What was the major task in this case was influencing the throw of the dice before they landed. Buggie would only have a couple seconds at most to influence the dice. It was a fairly crafty exercise, Buggie thought. He gave Master Godot a lot of credit for coming up with it. Relaxing himself and clearing his mind from unnecessary thoughts, Buggie observed the Force that flowed around him. He could feel it flowing throughout the freezer, up and into the shelves that lined each wall. He could feel the frost that formed on the packages on the shelves. He observed how the Force flowed throughout the room, coming into contact with everything that rested inside. The cold was off of Buggie's mind now. He knew that he could potentially be harmed by the temperature, but that wasn't what he was focused on. Instead, Buggie concentrated on Master Godot. He could sense the dice resting in his master's hand. He saw Master Godot, a beacon of gold light in the center of a dimly lit freezer. Buggie was now ready to attempt something that he had never experienced before.

"I'm ready," Buggie said.

"Alright, remember to reach out with the Force to the dice. The number is 4," Master Godot said as he removed one of the die from his hand and shook the other.

Buggie focused on what was happening. He could sense the dice in Master Godot's hand, shaking in all directions. Finally, Master Godot released the die and it rolled onto the ground. It took Buggie a fraction of a second to catch up with the die as it rolled along, valuable time wasted. As the die rolled along, Buggie reached out with the Force and attempted to influence how it would land. He reached out to the die as it began to die down and touched it. As it finally came to a stop, Buggie opened his eyes. To his dismay, the die showed one.

"Buggie, you have to really focus on the die. I could sense you influencing it, but your level of concentration must not have been strong enough. Don't focus on me shaking the die, just concentrate on the die itself. After all, that's what you need to influence for this to work. This time, try for three," Master Godot said.

Buggie nodded and closed his eyes again. Resuming his previous state, he could sense his master picking up the die again. Focusing on the die, Buggie took a deep breath and cleared his mind. He felt the die being jumbled again, over and over. Finally, it was released onto the ground, rolling along. Buggie didn't lose focus this time, having concentrated on the die the entire time. He immediately reached out to the die and felt it spinning and rolling on the cold floor. Seizing the opportunity, Buggie reached out and attempted to influence the throw. He could feel the Force flowing underneath the die. Buggie used this to his advantage, making his move. As the die finally came to a halt on the floor, Buggie once again opened his eyes. He smiled as he saw three dots face up on the ground.

"Excellent, Buggie! Well done. Now let's try two dice. It'll be a little more difficult because they'll possibly be moving seperate ways. Use the Force to take advantage of the dice. The Force flows through all things, binding us together. It certainly will flow beneath these dice. Use the Force as your tool to manipulate the dice. The number we'll be going for is eight. You did well on the last attempt, just repeat the performance, Buggie," Master Godot said.

Controlling his shivers and shakes, Buggie nodded. He closed his eyes again as Master Godot picked up both dice and placed them in one hand. Now was no time to worry about the numbness that coursed through his body. The Force would guide him to the end of the exercise soon enough. Once again focusing himself within the Force, Buggie concentrated on the dice. He prepared himself to influence the dice as soon as Master Godot released them.

Master Godot briefly shook them and then released them onto the floor. One die went to the left of Buggie, the other rolled towards him. Buggie immediately focused on the one coming towards him and attempted to influence it. He felt the Force flowing under the dice and once again used it to his advantage. He reached out with the Force and manipulated it to the number he desired. After he was finished, he switched his focus to the die that had rolled off to the left. It had almost finished rolling by the time Buggie had gotten to it. He quickly reached out with the Force and attempted to influence it. Less than a second later, both die had come to a halt. Opening his eyes, Buggie looked upon them. One die read a two, while the other die that had landed off to the left had a six face up. Happier than ever, Buggie smiled and looked to his master.

"Well done! Very nice, Buggie. I was worried you weren't going to get to that second die in time. You've definitely caught on fast. In any case, you've shown that you can control the Force with basic skill. I'd like for you to keep practicing, though. Become comfortable with influencing objects through the Force." Master Godot said, standing up and gathering the dice together, "You may also put your clothes on. Who knows when someone is going to walk in here..."

"Thank you, Master," Buggie said, grabbing his robes quickly and then standing up.

Handing Buggie the dice, Master Godot continued, "You've earned a rest. Go back to your room and take a warm shower. I hope you've learned a lesson from the conditions in which we've trained today."

Buggie nodded and took the dice. Just as the two began to get dressed, the door to the freezer opened. Buggie and Godot turned quickly to see who had opened the door. They were greeted by the sight of a Twi`lek chef standing in the doorway.

"Hey! Get out of here!" Master Godot said.

Shaking her head, the Twi`lek, turned and walked away, allowing the freezer door to swing shut. Before the door closed, Buggie thought he heard the chef mumble something about "typical Jedi" to herself.

When Buggie and Master Godot were dressed, they exited the freezer and went their seperate ways for the day. Overall, Buggie enjoyed the company of his Master. He could feel that they were a good match for one another and that Master Godot had enjoyed teaching him. Although he wasn't sure about his master's methods, he felt that they were essentially a well thought out plan. Shivering once more, Buggie realized just how cold he was. It was time for a warm shower and a nap to heat himself up and prepare him for his next lesson.

((OOC: Training for 'Meditative Trance' begins here.)

Buggie relaxed and enjoyed the outdoors as he sat in the beautiful gardens of the Jedi Enclave. In the trees, birds sang to each other, their hymns sounding far off into the distance. Having left his robe and undertunic indoors, Buggie felt the full extent of the afternoon sun shining on his light green carapace. It had been another typical day for Buggie. Early in the morning, he had made another visit to the Jedi Archives to study. From there, he had visited the commons to eat. After dropping off his robe and tunic, he made his way outside to where he currently sat. Now the time had come for Buggie to reflect on his studies and how they could better influence his connection and alignment within the Force. Studying would serve him no purpose if he didn't take time to consider all he had learned. It was for that reason that Buggie always made sure he dedicated time during the day for reflection.

"Hello my Padawan. Mind if I join you?" A familiar voice said from behind Buggie.

Turning, Buggie smiled at the sight of his master, Godot. His golden feather-like hair tousled about in the light breeze. It appeared to Buggie that Master Godot had also been taking advantage of the warm weather, as his outer robe was absent.

"Master, you're always welcome. How are you today?" Buggie asked.

"I'm doing well, Buggie. In fact, I've been looking for you. Have you been keeping up with your studies in the Archives?" Master Godot asked, sitting down next to Buggie.

"Yes, Master," Buggie said, curious as to why his master would ask such a thing, "In fact, I was just going to begin reflecting on my studies."

Smiling, Godot said, "Excellent. In that case, I'd like to teach you a skill that will assist you in your meditation. Many Jedi, with the assistance of the Force, reflect upon information and their studies by putting themselves into a trance-like state. This skill will allow you to shut out all distractions and strengthen your connection with the Force. In my opinion, it's a very useful skill for a Padawan to have, which is why I'd like to teach it to you."

Interested, Buggie nodded and said, "Of course, Master. Whenever you're ready."

"Good. Go ahead and make yourself comfortable and then close your eyes. Relax yourself and attempt to slow your breathing. You're going to want to shut out all distractions. Just feel yourself within the flow of the Force and let it carry you. Allow the Force to surround you and shield you from the background noise. Let it act as your haven so you can concentrate without interruptions. Concentrate on nothing but your reflections and the Force that shrouds you." Godot said, motioning for Buggie to begin.

Nodding to confirm that he understood, Buggie closed his eyes and let out a deep breath. Feeling the Force around him, he allowed for it to wash over him like he had done so many times before. The Force flowed through Buggie, and he relaxed himself within it. He let himself get carried away by the current of the Force that flowed around him. Before he knew it, the sounds of the birds had disappeared. The soft sound of the trees blowing in the light breeze had vanished. Buggie was in his own fortress, shut out from any interruptions. The time had come for him to concentrate on his studies. Like every other day after visiting the Archives, Buggie began to reflect on what he had learned. He recalled the numerous articles and pieces of information he had spent hours studying. It was all so clear in Buggie's mind. Through the power of the Force, the trance had improved his ability to concentrate on what he had studied.

When Buggie was satisfied with his meditation, he allowed himself to drift back to reality. He felt the Force uncovering him, allowing him to exit his trance. When he finally opened his eyes, he was surprised to see that the sun was setting in the sky. The birds could no longer be heard singing as loudly as they were before. As Buggie glanced to his side, he saw that Master Godot still sat nearby him, giving him a proud smile.

"Well done Buggie! I see you've used your meditation ability to its fullest. Don't worry about the amount of time that you'll be entranced for. With a little bit more practice, you'll develop the ability to snap out of it at will. Sort of like a mental alarm clock. In any case, I'd like for you to keep practicing this skill more, preferably after you visit the Archives tomorrow. For now, you deserve a break. Let's get back inside, it's getting chilly out here." Godot said, standing up from the ground and stretching himself out.

"Yes, Master," Buggie said as he stood and did the same.

((OOC: Training for 'Create Light' begins here.))

The treetops soared under Buggie as he glided above them. The Jedi Enclave grew smaller and smaller as Buggie soared away from it over the woodland. It was rather dark outside, but Buggie still knew exactly where he was going. He spun in the air and felt the wind blow through his robes, pulling them. Everything was beautiful on the planet of Naboo. Buggie couldn't be on a better planet, let alone fly freely on any other planet. He was now soaring through the sky without a care. Nothing could slow him down...

Except himself. Without a moment's notice, Buggie was falling. Flailing in the air, he tried to free himself from the inevitable. He opened his mouth to yell, but he heard nothing. Closing his eyes, he crashed through the woods and hit the ground with a deadly impact. Buggie knew he wasn't dead though. Against all odds, he was just fine. Opening his eyes once again, it was still dark out. Darker than before, almost. Looking to the left and to the right, he heard a rushing noise. It was as if something was running towards him from both sides. Buggie tried to get up to investigate, but he found himself bound to the hard ground. In an instant, darkness crawled over him. He moved his head up to see what was consuming his body. Everywhere he looked to the left and to the right, the same fluid darkness seeped onto his body. It was cold, unbearably cold. Buggie put his head back down and attempted to scream, but yet again, nothing emerged.

Suddenly, a familiar voice said in his mind, "Create light."

Buggie snapped his eyes open and sat straight up in his bed. What he saw next caused him to yell in fright. Faintly, at the foot of his bed, stood Master Godot himself. Buggie could barely recognize his master in the darkness.

Catching his breath, Buggie said, "What are you doing here, Master!?"

"I've come to train you, Buggie. This darkness is the perfect setting for what I'm planning on teaching you next," Master Godot said, motioning to Buggie, "Here, move over and let me sit down. I'll show you what I mean."

Buggie gave his master a skeptical look and moved to a cross-legged position near the top of his bed. Master Godot then proceeded to sit near the foot of his bed. As Buggie watched his instructor in the darkness, he faintly saw Master Godot raise his hand. What happened next astounded Buggie. With a flick of the wrist, Master Godot created an orb of light in the palm of his hand. The orb illuminated the room almost fully. Buggie grunted and covered his eyes, as he hadn't any time to adjust to the illumination.

Godot turned his head and looked to Buggie, the orb still resting in his palm. Smiling, Godot said, "Using the power of the Force, you can create light with which to illuminate dark areas. It may not seem like a useful skill, but you won't always be travelling in lighted areas. Also, if an enemy is coming right at you, a blast of intense light mere inches away from their face will usually buy you some time to fight or escape."

When Godot had finished speaking, Buggie nodded in confirmation. Before he knew what happened, with another flick of the wrist, Master Godot had extinguished the light. Godot spoke again, "Now I'll teach you how to perform this skill. Get comfortable and put out your hand. Feel the Force flowing through your body and focus on how it travels. Guide the Force into the palm of your hand and influence it. Allow the Force to illuminate the room; let it become a beacon of light for which to guide you."

Buggie nodded once again and relaxed himself. He then put his hand out and closed his eyes. Feeling the Force flow through the room, Buggie then concentrated on how it flowed through him. He felt the Force as it flowed through his body, even within himself. He then proceeded to guide the Force within himself towards his outstretched palm. When he felt that he had concentrated enough energy, he attempted to ignite it into a ball of light. Buggie could feel the energy within himself changing as he concentrated. All he needed was a spark to light up the Force energy he had manipulated. Letting out a breath, Buggie outstretched his fingers and attempted to create an orb of light. The next thing he knew, the energy had left his palm. Surprised at this, Buggie opened his eyes. Quickly turning his head, Buggie realized that he had created an orb of light in his hand. The light was not as intense as Master Godot's, but it still gave Buggie quite a shock when he looked at it.

Master Godot sat up and smiled, "Excellent Buggie! I didn't think you'd have much trouble with that. With more practice, your orb of light will shine much brighter. I'd like for you to keep practicing this, along with your other skills."

Buggie smiled and looked to his hand again. In an attempt to be flashy, Buggie flicked his wrist and tried to extinguish the orb of light. As the orb instantly extinguished, Buggie's room was cast into darkness yet again.

"Well, goodnight Buggie. Catch some sleep, we've got a lot to do tomorrow," Godot said, as he rose from the bed and made his way over to exit the room.

"Goodnight, Master." Buggie said, laying back down to sleep.

((OOC: Training for 'Lightsaber Combat' begins here.))

Buggie meditated in the empty room as he waited for Master Godot to arrive. There was no telling what his master had in store for him, but it was of no concern. Buggie felt the need to relax himself before training, so he simply did so. In such an empty room, there was little else to do. Buggie had been sent a message earlier from Master Godot, telling him to meet up in the very room Buggie now sat in. Now all that was left for Buggie to do was to prepare himself for training.

At that moment, someone entered the room through the heavy metal door. Buggie ended his meditation and opened his eyes, seeing Master Godot stride over to him. Buggie instantly noticed that his master was carrying a cylinder in his hand. Standing up from his position on the floor, Buggie bowed to Master Godot.

"Good afternoon, Master," Buggie said.

"Likewise, my Padawan. Before we begin, I'd like to present you with this. I feel you've proven yourself enough to begin learning how to use one of these," Godot said, handing Buggie the metal cylinder.

Taking the cylinder, Buggie immediately recognized it as a lightsaber. He had seen many Jedi walk the Enclave halls with lightsabers hanging from their belts. During his studies in the Archives, Buggie had not researched lightsabers as often as he had studied the ways of the Force. Nonetheless, Buggie still knew that lightsabers were the traditional weapons of Jedi Knights.

Before Buggie could speak, Godot said, "This is my old training lightsaber. You'll use this for your training until you can construct your own. Training sabers can only cause minor burns and bruising, so they are ideal for learning how to perform lightsaber combat. I would like to teach you a specific form of lightsaber combat today, Djem So. Although I don't expect it to be your primary style of lightsaber combat, it will provide a basis on which to train you in other forms of combat. You'll need to practice what you learn today extensively in order to be able to defend yourself in a real fight. Hopefully that day is a long way off, but it doesn't hurt to be prepared."

Buggie nodded in confirmation and said, "Yes, Master Godot."

Godot continued, "Now, let's begin your training. Djem So is a lightsaber combat style that focuses on using the foe's attack against them to create an opening for yourself. By blocking and parrying against the opponent's attacks, you can create a defense which will allow you to follow up immediately with a counterattack. As you should already know, engaging in a duel is a last resort to the Jedi. Fighting should only be a last resort after all other options have failed. When you counterattack, you'll want to disarm your opponent and cause as little physical damage to them as possible. Djem So requires you to use your natural strength to launch powerful strikes. It is essential that you don't let your emotions fuel your attacks. Simply use the power of the Force to guide your actions. Using your body's power and leverage, using Djem So may knock your opponent back, making him or her lose their balance. That will give you a chance to disarm them. Now let's begin the basics. We'll spar with training sabers. Imitate my actions."

Master Godot ignited his training saber and took a step back from Buggie. Raising the lightsaber over his head and angling the blade behind him at an upward slant, Godot motioned for Buggie to do the same.

As Buggie imitated his master's stance, Godot said, "Make sure your dominant leg is back so you can step into your swing. Now step through and swing at me."

Buggie nodded to show that he understood. He then took a moment to plan is next move after swinging. Inhaling sharply, Buggie took and step and swung his training saber down, aiming for Master Godot's left shoulder. Reacting quickly, Master Godot spun and fended off the attack. Before Buggie knew it, Master Godot had crouched low and completed his spin, bringing his training saber around hard into Buggie's right thigh. Crumpling to the floor, Buggie groaned in pain.

"You just lost your leg. You'd probably lose your life next. On the bright side, you probably won't ever get hit that hard again with a training saber," Master Godot said, offering his hand to help up his Padawan.

"...Great," Buggie said, limping back onto his feet.

"Now let me show you a series of attacks and ways to defend them. We'll try them at half speed first, and then move on to full speed. Hopefully, with a little more practice, you'll get a basic understanding of what Djem So is all about," Master Godot said, once again raising his training saber to the ready position.

Master Godot then went through a series of attacks associated with the Djem So style. Buggie did his best to imitate the motions his master had shown him. Although Buggie was small for his species, he could definitely tell that his strength improved the effectiveness of his attacks. As he progressed through the training, he felt as if he was starting to understand the maneuvers associated with the Djem So style. Although he knew that his style was still rough, Buggie could tell that his abilities had improved over the course of the training. When he had first began, the training saber in his hands was awkward to hold and swing. With assistance from Master Godot, he had learned the proper grip and body stance.

After hours of training and practice, Master Godot powered off his training lightsaber. After wiping the sweat off of his brow, Master Godot motioned for Buggie to power down his saber as well.

"Excellent. It's pretty clear to me that you're beginning to catch on to the Djem So style. Let's call it a night. I'm impressed with your progress, Buggie. My advice would be to keep practicing your motions in your room. Although it may not seem like much, it'll help you become more familiar with the positions and maneuvers involved with combat. As well, you might want to put some ice on those burns," Master Godot said, grimacing at Buggie's partially-scorched body parts.

"Yes, Master Godot," Buggie said, bowing to his master.

"Keep that training lightsaber with you for now. We'll be practicing a lot more from now on. For now, let's get out of here," Master Godot said, motioning for Buggie to follow him out of the room.

((OOC: Training for 'Alter 1' begins here.))

Buggie was relieved to be finished with his studies in the Archives for the day. Although he had learned much, Buggie's eyes grew tired from the reading that Master Godot had assigned to him. As he followed Master Godot down the halls of the Jedi Enclave, Buggie wondered what was in store for him next. Recently, Buggie's afternoons had been spent with Master Godot honing his lightsaber skills. Strangely, Buggie had been directed by his master the night before to get some sleep. Perhaps Master Godot had something else up his sleeve for this afternoon.

As Buggie followed his master around a corner, Buggie saw that they were now in a small kitchenette. Stopping in the doorway, Buggie looked around while his master proceeded into the room. The kitchenette had a small table with chairs surrounding it. As he looked to his left, he saw a caf dispenser resting on a countertop near a sink. At the far end of the room was a refrigerator. As his master began pouring himself a cup of caf, Buggie stepped inside and sat at the table.

"You know, Master, I've been thinking. If I was a bit quicker on my feet, I could've had you disarmed a couple times last time we practiced with the lightsabers," Buggie said as he watched his master.

"Please, my young Padawan. I know your abilities. I'm merely trying to instruct you at your own pace. Besides, how would it look if I came out of a training session with burns all over?" Godot said, chuckling as he opened the refrigerator.

Buggie laughed at the thought of it and continued watching his master prepare the drink. As Master Godot rummaged through the refrigerator, he finally withdrew a jug of milk.

Giving a disapproving look at the jug, Master Godot said, "Hmm... seems it's frozen."

Master Godot shrugged and walked over to the small table where Buggie was sitting. Setting the jug on top of the table, he unscrewed the cap and set it on the tabletop.

"This is an excellent opportunity for me to teach you a new skill. Altering objects with the Force is a skill vital to all Jedi. Being able to alter objects will open up a world of new possibilities for you, Buggie. Knowing how to alter objects using the Force will allow you to make those objects do things that they wouldn't normally do. In this case, I'd like for you to thaw out this milk so I can make some caf. One thing to keep in mind is not to raise the temperature of the milk itself. You wouldn't want your Master drinking spoiled milk, would you?" Master Godot said, resting his elbows on the table.

"Of course not!" Buggie said, pretending to be shocked at the thought.

Godot chuckled and continued, "Good. In that case, let me guide you along with the basics on how to use this skill. You're going to want to concentrate on the milk itself. Let the Force flow through you and allow it to guide your focus into the jug. Obviously, the milk is in a frozen state, so you should use the Force to break the bonds that hold it together. Unbind the barriers that keep the milk in its frozen state and allow the Force to restore it to a liquid. Essentially, you'll use the Force to melt the block of milk in there and create a jug of complete liquid milk. Remember to let the Force guide you to those bonds that hold the milk in a frozen state."

Nodding, Buggie prepared himself to begin the exercise. Keeping in mind not to heat the milk, Buggie relaxed himself before he began. Closing his eyes, Buggie felt the Force flow through him. He felt as it flowed around the kitchenette, caressing every object in the room. Buggie began focusing as he felt the Force flow into the jug. Slowly manipulating the Force as it penetrated the block of frozen milk, Buggie began to get a feel for altering the milk's state. Using the Force as his tool for unlocking the bonds, Buggie studied how the milk reacted to contact with the Force. Buggie felt deep within the frozen beverage using the Force and sensed how an almost infinite number of bonds held the milk in its state. Buggie could clearly sense that the Force itself played a role in keeping the milk frozen it its state. There was no doubt that the power of the Force bound and linked together everything within the galaxy. Buggie knew what his next step was. Using the power of the Force that held the frozen milk together in countless bonds, he would break those bonds with the influence of the Force. The factor that played a crucial role in holding the frozen milk in its state would be manipulated to break the bonds and turn the milk back into a liquid. Now that he had a plan of how to approach the process of altering the milk, Buggie set forth upon breaking the bonds and completing the exercise.

Concentrating on the block of frozen milk, Buggie sensed the bonds that held the milk together as a block. He next attempted to unlock those bonds, creating a liquid. He could feel the Force flowing around the inside of the jug as Buggie concentrated on the milk. Applying the power of the Force, Buggie contacted the ice and began thawing it out. As he focused, he sensed the bonds, tightly formed together. Reaching out within the Force, Buggie influenced the bond to break. It was a small start, but Buggie had begun the process. Totally focused on the frozen milk, Buggie began to break another bond. Soon, the bonds that held the milk in a frozen state began breaking at a faster pace. After a few moments, many bonds began breaking at a time. Finally, making a small motion with his hand, the rest of the bonds released, returning to their original liquid state.

Opening his eyes, Buggie saw that the container of frozen milk now contained normal liquid milk. Letting out a sigh of relief, Buggie smiled at his master. It had been a difficult task, but Buggie had completed it with the aid of the Force.

"It looks as if you've done it, Buggie. Can I offer you a cup?" Master Godot said with a smile as he took the jug and walked back over to the caf dispenser.

"Certainly. Thank you, Master," Buggie said.

After a few moments, Master Godot returned with two steaming cups of caf. Handing one to Buggie, Master Godot said, "You've done well here. With the ability to change how the Force interacts and flows through objects, you're able to learn many more skills. Remember what you've learned here today; it will assist you in attempting many skills I wish for you to use."

Buggie nodded in response, sipping his drink. He had never enjoyed a cup of caf as much as he did now.

((OOC: Training for 'Force Level 2' begins here.))

"Pick up your feet Buggie!" Master Godot shouted.

Although his insides felt as if they had been lit on fire, Buggie pushed himself harder. Master Godot had started a whole new focus on Buggie's training; physical fitness. Buggie was by no means out of shape, but according to Master Godot he wasn't strong or fast enough. As Buggie nearly sprinted behind his master, every breath made his throat feel raw and sore. The trail that they had started out on was long, but the end was in sight. Grunting under the stress, Buggie pushed himself even furthur, in an attempt to outrun his master. As far as Buggie was concerned, even the smallest amount of effort he put into his training would turn into valuable experience later on. Now sprinting, he finished the run neck and neck with his master. Master Godot began slowing down after they had finished the trail, while Buggie followed suit.

After a moment of cooling down, Master Godot said between breaths, "Good run, Buggie. Take a seat on the ground when you're all cooled down. There's something I've been wishing to discuss with you."

Buggie nodded to his master and took a few more moments to help regain his breath. When he was ready, he sat on the grass and waited for his master to do the same.

Sitting down, Master Godot leaned back onto his elbows and spoke to Buggie, "I've noticed throughout your training that you've been repeating a certain habit. It's nothing negative, as a matter of fact many apprentices share the same habit..."

"What is it that you're referring to, Master?" Buggie asked, his breathing slowing down progressively.

"Using the Force with your eyes closed. Admittedly, it is easier to shut out distractions that way, but in a tough battle, that habit will do you no good. I feel you've got enough experience to begin practicing your skills with your eyes open. I understand if you need to close your eyes to concentrate when learning a completely new technique. You're not a complete novice anymore, Buggie. We'll begin training on more difficult techniques that will require your full attention. What I'd like to show you today is how to practice your skills with your eyes open," Master Godot said, sitting up from his previous position.

"Surely, Master," Buggie said, sitting in a more comfortable posture.

"One technique that many experienced Jedi Knights and Masters employ to use the Force with their eyes open is to physicalize their skill. I know that sounds confusing, but let me explain. I'm sure you noticed me flick my wrist when I first taught you how to create light. As I recall, you even did it yourself. That is a great first step. What I'd like to do with you is to practice your other skills with your eyes open. For example, let's have you try sensing the life around here and sensing a disturbance with your eyes fully open. Trust me, it'll become second nature after a while. You'd better believe that's one of the most important skills you can have," Master Godot said.

Nodding, Buggie said to his master, "Alright. I'd like to sense life first."

"Excellent. You'll simply reach out with the Force and sense any life nearby. As the Force binds us all together, it should be easy to detect all sorts of life in the woods. You should feel trees, birds, and all other types of critters living close by. It might take a moment longer to get used to performing the skill with your eyes open, but be patient. Go ahead and begin when you're ready," Master Godot said, gesturing to the woods nearby where they sat.

Buggie took in a deep breath and then let it out. He began to close his eyes, but remembered the entire purpose of the exercise. Smiling sheepishly towards his master, he began to focus on the woods nearby. He knew the Force was present, as it always was. Feeling the Force flow through him, he felt his senses being heightened. In a moment, he could feel the trees, all throughout the woods. As he focused more, he began to feel the presence of countless birds living on the trees. The sensation of using the Force in such a way with open eyes would take some getting used to for Buggie, but it hadn't hindered him much so far.

"I think I can get used to doing this, Master. Would you mind assisting me in sensing a small disturbance?" Buggie said.

"Sure. It seems that you're catching onto this as quickly as I expected. Relax yourself and feel the small tremors within the Force that I create," Master Godot said.

Buggie relaxed himself and let out a sigh. Feeling the normal flow of the Force all around him, he began to feel for any disturbances. Suddenly, a small tremor caught his attention. After a moment, Buggie sensed another nearby. After a few more moments, Buggie could feel more disturbances near where he and Master Godot sat.

"I can sense the tremors you're sending through the Force, Master. I believe I'll be able to get used to practicing the skill like this as well," Buggie said.

"Excellent. I'm glad you caught on to this as quickly as you did. Once you get used to practicing your skills with your eyes open, you'll become more comfortable using them. It's almost as if you're taking your abilities to a new height when you use them with you eyes open fully. Again, well done, my Padawan," Master Godot said, standing up, "Now let's head in. We've got a bit more to do today."

Buggie stood up from the ground and said, "Yes, Master. I'll race you there!"
