A trip to wild space.

Post by Corran Vellar » Fri Jan 05, 2018 6:53 am

Ryder stood on the bridge of the Black Star looking at the work order sent to him by the Grand Admirals office. It was usual stuff one would expect for a military outpost, energy cells, generators, building materials. The thing that was curious was it was some world he'd never heard of on the edge of wild space. He eventually shrugged and moved on to looking at the status of his ships. The Solar Nebula had checked in about an hour ago fully loaded from Solar Wind Industries primary factory. With the two freighters loaded all Ryder was waiting for was the Imperial escort.

With a sigh of he placed the datapad down on the holotable before stepping back to his command chair. His crew was plotting the fastest route to Nirauan, checking and rechecking the maps to make sure they had the right coordinates.

"As soon as the our escorts check in we make the jump to hyperspace," Ryder spoke. "We've gotten lucky the lately but I don't want to sit in one spot to long."

The bridge crew nodded, they all still remembered one of the first job they did for the Empire that ended up being stolen by the BSP.

"We've plotted the fastest route sir," the nav officer replied. "Should be an easy trip."

"I'll feel better once some other ships show up to escort us." Ryder countered. As the head of a security company he didn't like it when things seem unsecured.

Rhoden sat in the cockpit of his YT-2000 freighter. He was transporting several valuable pieces of equipment to an outpost out in Wild Space. Under normal conditions a job such as this would be below his position, but there was money in it and it never hurt to get some spare credits. "Transport checking in." Haly said from the copilots seat, "Weapons standing by." Jorvan said. Rhoden hoped that the precaution of keeping the weapons ready would not be needed, but one never knew what they would be facing.

"What do you think they're doing with this outpost?" Haly asked as she began checking the freighter's systems. "Not sure, might look into it once we're back on the Hydra, but I'm sure the Admiral has his plans." Rhoden said, carefully moving the ship into position beside the other freighters.

"That Starwing in position yet?" Rhoden asked. He had recently acquired a Starwing to add to his person assets and had talked one of the pilots aboard the Hydra into escorting them on their little mission. Haly looked up at a display and squinted, "Yes, looks like we're ready." she said.

Doren anxiously pressed into the back of his flight seat. Wild Space, so aptly named, was not a geographical venture the Captain envied. Prone to lawlessness and natural anarchy, that fearsome fringe of galaxy easily rivaled the dangers that lingered beyond the Unknown Regions. It was no place for dallying, and even visiting it on business was enough to keep Vassyl on-edge. Nonetheless, Doren wasn't one to shy away from service, despite the larger discomforts it sometimes afforded him. Glancing out the Proudclad's main viewport, Vassyl took some comfort in the familiar outlines of several amicable fighters. Doren could never accurately predict what sort of action the Commander would take in the heat of battle, though the aftermath of his efforts always followed a distinct pattern of ruthless efficiency and utter devastation. If something need be neutralized, the Captain could think of no soldier better suited for such tasks. Similarly, several shipping assignments had left Doren much more accustomed to his XM-1, and though he felt himself lightyears away from mastery, he was at least confident in his ability to defend kin and country. Whatever stood to impede the Imperials this day, Doren steeled his resolve to fight it to the last. If some unseen villainy lusted after these resources, they obviously had little concern for self-preservation: of that there could be no doubt.

Wild space, Kota couldn't remember the last time she had been near this part of the Galaxy. The Empire was shipping there however and it was apart of the job to see the shipment got to it's location. It was also opportunity for Brutus to learn. He hadn't been in a ship just yet, but she felt that with guidance he could learn on the fly. It was a risky thing to do, but it could unlock his powers.

"Ok Brutus, check your systems make sure they are running." She said to him over the com. He had been given a chance to review the council so that he knew where stuff was. He had also gone through a few simulations, so hopefully it would pay off. Kota also hoped that the route would be an easy one, if not it might be a problem for him. Luckily though, she made sure he had the pilot Droid with him, it would know what to do if he didn't.

Time was up, the shipment needed to get moving. Several Imperial vessels had checked in, not many but it was better than nothing. “Send out the hyperspace coordinates,” Ryder ordered.

The nav-officer nodded and after several moments all ships linked in. The crew started the hyperspace entry count down. Several seconds past before the view port was overtaken by the swirling blue tunnel known as hyperspace.

Ryder released a breath, in this tunnel they would remain safe, but he couldn’t be sure what was on the other end. He’d spent little time in wild space, his old life never led him to this sector of the galaxy that often. He could only hope any threats would shy away due to Imperial presence.

The ship beaped in confirmation that she had received the coordinates. "Ok Brutus enter them as you where shown to do, hit the button and jump. I will follow to make sure you are doing it correctly." She said over the com. "Yes ma'am." He responded. He was slow to enter the numbers, because it was his first time in such a ship or any ship for that matter. When the numbers were entered he flipped the switch to jump.

She sat there sensing his movements with ever step, Kota could feel how uneasy this was for him being his first actual ship. When she saw him take off into hyperspace she proceeded to follow. Her input and flip switching was much faster as she was used to everything by now. The ship jumped after she had done so, but the ride was far from over.

Vassyl wasted no time setting about the navicomputer after receiving the next set of coordinates. The closer the convoy got to their target, the safer Doren would feel. Such was his line of thought anyways. Whilst adjusting various knobs and barometers, the Captain kept one eye fixed on the stellar landscape that lay before him. Eventually, Vassyl pried his gaze away from viewport for but a moment, in order to thoroughly double-check his handy work. Confident that the coordinates were entered correctly, Doren eased himself back into his chair, and pinged the ready signal to the rest of his comrades. His eyes shifting back across the vastness of the cosmos, the Captain tried to distract himself by focusing on a plasma flare some forty clicks out from their present location. Even the visual stimuli seemed violent out in these parts, and from this distance the tremendous off-shoot of natural energy was enough to give Doren cause for fright. Truly, the disheveled officer would find no respite on this journey.

Rhoden yawned as the ship leapt into hyperspace. These transport missions, even on the unfortunate occasions that they involved pirates or rebels, were rather boring. Haly smiled from the copilots seat, "It can't all be blasting rebels." she said. Rhoden leaned back, placing his hands behind his head and looking at the ceiling of the cockpit. "I suppose not, besides, being bored is a nice change from being shot at."

Rhoden swiveled his chair around, bringing his hand up to his chin for a moment as he thought. The cockpit was just slightly larger than some other models in the YT line and there was a small table along one of the walls. "Up for some cards?" he asked, running a cursory look over the consoles. Haly stood up and moved to the table. "I'll take you for two weeks' leave." she said, grinning evilly. "We'll just see about that." Rhoden said darkly, smiling all the same. He fanned out his cards and cursed inwardly maintaining his confident expression.

"Oi! Switch off, I don't need to hear this!" Jorvan's voice came over the comm, reducing Haly and Jorvan to laughter. Rhoden switched off their end of the comm and went back to playing, distinctly hearing Jorvan muttering deliberately into his comm unit. Rhoden noted in the back of his mind, as he placed down yet another card, that his situation could be worse--the pilot in the Starwing was probably near enough ready to give Rhoden a good kick. And, smiling at the thought, he played a card that made Haly flinch.

The underworld thrived on the edges of civilization, and nowhere was this more true than on the fringe of the charted galaxy, in the regions of Wild Space. Here, lawlessness reigned, and hidden facilities of the Blue Star Pirates floated silently through deep space, unknown to most, but accessible to those who required them. The pirates came across much treasure that, to many, appeared useless at first glance. The war caused many seemingly ordinary items to fall into pirate hands. While it was rare that a prince's or a wealthy merchant family's search for a priceless heirloom reached the ears of the pirates, occasionally, the pirates could facilitate the return of said heirloom, albeit always for a price or some connection to be called upon at a later date.

In this situation, a mobile facility owned by the Blue Star Pirates possessed a stuffed and mounted beast once native to Alderaan, the last of its kind known to exist. A prominent Galactic Alliance museum had been searching for the specimen, which had been mounted by a famous taxidermist that had been killed in the planet's destruction about 30 years prior. As fortune would have it, the Blue Star Pirates were willing to pass along the mounted beast as a token of goodwill toward their Galactic Alliance friends, with hopes that perhaps their spirit of camaraderie could continue and that the Galactic Alliance would pass a blind eye past some of the more dodgy Blue Star Pirate endeavors.

A series of Blue Star Pirate and Galactic Alliance ships exited hyperspace within the Gradilis sector and vectored toward the holding facility. It was rare for the uninitiated to witness such a facility, which was nothing more than a light cruiser modified for its treasure holding purposes. In this instance, though, both groups had assembled together to make the exchange, seeing as they were located neck-deep within Imperial territory. A jump back into Alliance territory was deemed impossible for the holding facility, since the mandatory refueling that would require would put the entire stock of treasure held within under undue danger. As such, the assembled convoy would rendezvous with the holding facility, pass off the treasured stuffed beast, and return back themselves, with the facility jumping away after said rendezvous to ensure its own safety in the future, lest the Galactic Alliance have a change of heart about its good will toward the Blue Star Pirates.

Within the cockpit of his Nighthawk Gunboat, Buggie hailed the facility, "This is Bandit 01, reporting in to facility. Please stand by for clearance codes for our party."

Little did the small group realize, a tantalizing Imperial convoy was itself destined to arrive within the sector...

Neive hadn't seen much action in a while. Ever since the escape from the star destroyer near Onderon, he had kept a low profile. However, that didn't render him totally useless to alliance and Jedi endeavors. Rather than open conflict, Neive had become the backup to many kinds of different encounters the Alliance held, but never before had he been in the anarchy of wild space. It was something Neive related to, his past so muddled with the chaos between the Jedi and sith orders. But now that things had calmed down, Neive thought, so should he for a while. So there he sat, following a small group of alliance ships for a transfer with the biggest pirate group in the galaxy, as far as he had known. He had never liked pirates, but any way to make a living, he supposed. They work with the right people, at least.
Neive looked up as he thought. A familiar presence was approaching... But who?
